HK Income Tax

Hi there,

I am curently on an project assignment where I am providing my services in HK. However, I am on a W2 contract assignment from a US corporation that does not have a subsidiary in HK. I am not a US citizen nor have I ever worked in the US before.

I understand that the HK tax law stipulates that if a person renders work services in HK for a period that extends over 60 days, that person is liable to pay HK taxes. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help with this regard and possibly help with reducing my tax liabilities in a legal sense. I am also interested in finding out if I could write off some expenses (housing, etc...)? Also, would I be able to consider myself as a sole proprietor although I have not registered as a sole business proprietor? Any additional info would be much appreciated.

Thanks kindly :)

Pete
