Birthday Party Goodie Bags

ORIGINAL POST

I am in the process of organising my son's 4th birthday party.

Apart from sweets and lollipops, what else should I put in the birthday party goodie bags? I know some people put a 'hot wheels' car in goodie bags for boys, but what do I put in the girl's goodie bags?

Apart from ToyRUs, are there any other shops (you can recommend) which sell little trinkets for goodie bags?

Any helpful suggestions appreciated.

Toys Club is also good. For girls, stickers, anything Disney Princess or Barbie, play make-up, notebooks/mini colouring books are always a hit. Yoyos, children's chop-sticks, bubbles, colouring pencils, bath toys etc. work for both. I've become lazier with party bags recently and just wrapped one gift per child rather than filling a bag (seems to cost less too).

I'm a fan of no sweets and one "nicer" present vs. a bunch of little things. One soft back book vs. a bag full of bits and pieces that get lost anyways.

Toys Club often has books on special. A nice set of crayons or some playdough or some other art supplies are also a nice present.

Agree with nice set of crayons.

playdoh is good too - i just bought a party pack, about 10 mini tubs so you can separate them into goodie bags. along with some crayons, i think it'll be great!

I just did a goodie bag for my daughter's 4th birthday party. I normally get one decent gift but this time I opted for the loot-stuffed bag. I found loads of stuff in the stalls in the lanes of Central/Sheung Wan ... stickers, pencils, erasers, hair clips. Another thing my daughter really seems to be into these days is any sort of office supplies ... post-it notes, staplers, mini-scissors and especially tape. I found a bunch of this kind of stuff at Jusco on Des Voeux Rd. I've had some feedback on the bags and apparently they were a big hit. After doing both ... will go back to the one decent gift next year. It was expensive. Fun ... but expensive.

Thanks ladies for these helpful suggestions.

I had suspected it would be an expensive exercise, but hopefully fun!

To K8sMum & mrsl, thanks for listing specific items - much appreciated.
