Informtaion needed on Abortion in HK

I know there are several posts out there for this topic but I need some specific information. I am abt 3 weeks pregnant and cannot have the baby. To make things worst my B/F is away from HK for the next three months and there is no way he can be there so I need to get this done alone. The answers I need:

1. I have read real bad stuff about the Family planning clinic, is it worth even trying ther? Moreover I was checking their website and it seems they perform abortions only if there is a danger to the life of the child or mother or in cases of rape. Is that true?

2. Which private hospitals can I try? I heard about Matilda but 10K is too expensive for me, do all private hospitals cost so much? Does anyone know the range?

3. Does anyone know a private gyne that I can visit? Last time a friend of mine went to one in Princess Building, Central and she was very mean to here, refused to help and was very judgmental. If anyone has a doctor they can recommend it will be very helpful.

Please help, I am at my nerves ends and don’t know what to do.

kardi> take a deep breath... and let it out slowly. I appreciate you are scared/worried/frightened but let's take this step by step. Abortion is permitted in HK under one of three circumstances.

One such circumstance is when the continuance of the pregnancy would involve risk to the life of the pregnant woman or of injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman, greater than if the pregnancy were terminated.

Terminations can only be performed at FPA clinics (up to 10 weeks) and private or public hospitals. You would need a referral letter from the FPA to go to a public hospital. It is not possible to get a legal termination in a doctor's office.

Perhaps go to the FPA first and ask for a referral to a public hospital. But should you decide to go ahead, you must move quickly.

As above Central Hospital, I was in a complete state and I found them to be non judgemental and understanding.

Thank you so much for your replies, it does put me a little at ease, everything that i was reading till now was either horrible stories of the FPA or super expensive options at private hospitals. This does sound reasonable. Its not an easy thing to do and the worst part is when the hospital is judgemental. Thank you once again.

The government family planning clinic in Wanchai (near Southern playground) were really helpful when I was there for morning after pill. They were efficent, kind, professional and non judgemental. I have no idea of the cost or of the service for an abortion but it may be worth finding out. Hope all goes well.

Hi,

I was really on the same situation months back when I was pregnant. All I can say is I thank God that the abortion I did was not sucessful or else I would never have the most greatest gift a women can ever have, a baby.

Please do consider on keeping your little child. Every baby is a blessing so no matter what your situation is, it will help you make it through.
