Can anyone recommend or suggest which whitening products work best for brown spots on the cheeks? I know it will not completely get rid of them but something to fade it more quickly.

Many thanks

Without knowing your exact skin types, it's a bit hard to say. Generally saying, perhaps you can consider:

* SkinCeuticals Phyto+, if you want a product without hydroquinone

* PCA SKIN pHaze 13 Pigment Gel, if you want a product with 2% hydroquinone

* Obagi NuDerm Clear, if you want a product with 4% hydroquinone (this is prescription strength)

you could try this all natural japanese product that a friend recommended me to. very gentle and the whitening is excellent. after a few mths of use could see skin lighten dramatically. the brand is blancneige.

Im using an off the shelf product at the moment from Palmers brand - called Skin Success eventone fade cream. cant tell you how well it works yet, as i only started using it a couple of weeks ago, however I do honestly think the spots have faded slightly already. Active ingredient is hydroquinone though, so if you are looking for something without this, im not too sure. Got it at Watsons.

"Eldoquin Forte" cream, really worked for me as it faded some very subborn melasma (brown marks due to hormones). Brought it from the chemist in Mannings but it has 4% hydroquinone, MUST use a high UV to protect your skin in the sun.

I was suffered from this black spots for almost 8 years. Finally, a friend of mine advised me to try this very enexpensive chinese product "BAI LI TOU HONG" (I was bit nervous). After 2 weeks, my face became brighter & even toned. :-)

If it's melasma (darkening due to pregnancy) you can try Galderma's Tri Luma creme.

BUT, most dermatologists will tell you that the creams are only successful up to a point. They will only fade - and the results ONLY last if you continue with maximum sun protection for the rest of your life.

Juscode, i can guess the four characters of Bai Li Tou Hong but I have no clue what kind of product is. Do you have other info? I wanna know what it is and see if I can get it for my sister in law who always wants to find this kind of product to tackle her black spots. Thanks

Would you consider something more invasive yet more effective such as IPL treatment to remove the pigmented spots?

Hi Miss Gemini

No I will not consider IPL treatment at the moment but thanks for suggesting.

I would suggest that you try having a facial first for the product of your choice. if it is pigmentation due to sun damage i suggest you try skin peeling using Neostrata. You'll see result right away but be sure to use spf moisturizers. call jenna 2508-6466 for advice or you can email her at jenna.barcelona@gmail.com
