Have really missed the pool tables that are abundant in most other countries. Is this the sort of place a Western girl can rock up to by herself?

you can try "joe's billards" in the kongs hotel, jaffee road... they have about 9 tables .. all well looked after... one of them is a free table ... (winner stays on) others are about 70HKD per hour...
lots of girls go there as it's a girl friendly hangout..
Other tables are the canny man... but a bit small, and the Kangaroo in wanchai... but a bit of a younger crowd hangout there...
drop me a mail if you want me to intro my female friends to you... they love to hang out at joes.

oh... racks.... i been there... good tables snooker looking but with the pocket cut of a pool table.... but bit to pricey for my liking...

aye... it's typical trendy looking bar with 2 tables.... but when i went to see it the place the table hire charge was excessive (for non banker types)

ooo, you're right, that is a bit steep - and a bit cr*p if you're half way through a game when your hour is up - takes the fun out of it a bit. I guess it's hard to have the right policy though - if the tables were free people would just go there and play and not necessarily spend much on drinks.

Go to Kangaroo LKF, it has a pool table and its free!!!! Also the staff are really friendly there. Good drink prices not too crazy. I played in a pool comp, think they are every Monday, free entry too and prizes!

isn't joe's billiards owned by that celebrity (joe ngai) and thus is a place for him and his g/f (vivian chow) to hang out? they are both in their late 30s/ early 40s. or are you not quite that age either?

neither, but I'm not trying to find a place to play in Kowloon, or where Celebs hang out...but thanks for the suggestion!
