My daughter, who was born in Hong Kong, is about to turn 7 years old.
Both myself and her Dad are British Citizens with Permanent Residancy here in HK, but we were not permanent residents when she was born (we've been here 10 years).
I would like to know if anyone can give me info on what forms i need to fill in, etc.....
Have contacted Immigration and having trouble explaining it to them so any help gratefuly received.

You should have got her PR when you got yours. When we got ours 2 years ago, all the children became PR at the same time, the youngest 2 were 5 and 3 at the time. They got something put in their passports saying they no longer need a visa etc.

Apparently, cd, you can only do that if they were born when you had permanent residency. Our were born in 2000 and 2002 and we didn't become permanent until 2004 so ours are still on a visa, but thanks.
Just want to know what forms to fill in for the edlest to get hers.

I'm not quite sure what you mean 'if they were born when we had permanent residency'
ours were 16, 14, almost 11, 5 and 3 when we got our PR, so they were all born long before we became PR. And they all got theirs at the same time. So if yours were born in 2000 and 2002,they were both around to claim your PR when you did.

children of PR are entitled to PR until they are 21 or have attained it in their own right. Doesnt really matter when they are born. you can go down there and talk to them - actually normally they are very good on teh phone.

Im a teacher and it's difficult to call them or get down to the offices due to school hours, however finally got someone on the phone today and sorted it. I wasn't being lazy, honest.
Children of PR are NOT entitled to PR until they themselves have been here 7 years, mine were born when i had only been here 3 years hence i have to apply for it according to a very helpful Mr Fong at Immigration.

mm thats not how i understood it when they explained it to me. I thought as the post says above they get a new sticker in the passport - allowing them to remain.

I've also spoken to a well known visa specialist that was on Radio 3 about this and he confirms the above. Unless the parent/parents were PR's when the bubs was born then the bubs needs to wait the normal 7 years like everyone else, but it is noted on his visa.

Well mine were 3 and 5 when we became PR, and they got their passports endorsed at the same time with Previous conditions of stay are hereby cancelled. Holders eligibility for Hong Kong permanent identity card verified.
A local friend has told me that I can now get some sort of identity card for the kids even though they are not 11 but we haven't looked into it. We no longer have to get visas. So they certainly don't have to have been here 7 years, unless the law has changed since Apr 2005.
