I have interview with top investment banking firm next week for operation position.


What should be the best answer for the question like why you want to work in financial industry??


Any comments?

Saikunga: He is not interviewing to be an investment banker, but to be in operations. No big bucks in that unfortunately...

Saikunga, Allan Moss was part of the team that founded Macquarie. He led the team that bought the business out from Hill Samuel. Is that $33m AUD? In which case, he's actually earning less than quite a few bankers in US banks (who were not founding partners).


Curious though - what's wrong with expecting an return on investment? Isn't that how all companies work?

i think its best to mention things like career opportunities and advancement, diverse work etc at the start of a response to this question, as it shows first and foremost that you are focused on your career direction and motivated. Second you want to add some puff about the bank and use terms like "premier firm, exceptional market reputation and your want to work alongside some of the industries best". So you show the interviewee that you are also interested in that bank. Do specific research and try to drop something that has been in the news that relates to this job opportunity. Best of luck.
