Any suggestions for a house warming gift for a good friend of mine who's an Aussie. Not too big or heavy as I need to mail it there.

maybe send flowers, fruit basket or wine through online sites?

You need to send it to Australia?
If you want something that is 'special' and remind your friend of you why not try the lovely chinese inspired wall hangings they have in both Xquisite in Wellington Street or OVO in Queen's Road opposite Pacific Place Three. Made of Jade, onxy and silk tassell.
Not too expensive or heavy (for posting) and a really nice gift. Let them know what the chinese symbol/characters mean - the ones I have bought are either double happiness or long life.

A pretty silk table runner - or table mats

Thanks for all the suggestions.
My friend is ex-HK (left last year). So she's got heaps of stuff from Shanghai Tang and such places. She was expecting to buy a house when she got back so she also got some furnishings here before she left. I'll have a look at Cat St though and see if anything catches my eye. She's just rather picky about things and so I don't want to get her something that she doesn't like. But wanted something more interesting and personal than flowers, etc. She's really tough to buy presents for - I always struggle with birthdays and xmas!
