It looks like I am going back to work fulltime in a couple of months. With both of us working, I want somebody reliable to look after my daughter.
How have other people organised this...Nanny, au pair or any other suggestions??
Thanks!

Hmmmmm... you will prob find that most people just leave that in the hands of their domestic helpers!!! and depending on age of your daughter you could consider day care?

try www.thenannyexperts.com - thye found us a british nanny - we had her for a week when we came over to HK for our 'orientation'
we also looked into www.qhms.com - Quality Healthcare offer chilcare which is provided by trained nurses - some of the big hotels use them for babysitting - I think Mandarin Oriental is one of them. Good luck

I will check them out! The reason I am thinking abou a nanny, is because we both might have to spend nights away from home on occasion. So yes daycare will help, but not for the od occasion of being away for a couple of days...
Thanks

How about a good, reliable amah.
We had our first for 5.5 years (she left ot go to Canada) and we found a replacement from a well known local magazine, who i think is even better than our first, who was amazing.
Both were nurses and love our kids to bits, wouldn't have it any other way.

That is an option as well, I will just have to have a good look around, and find someone I am absolutely sure about, so when I am gone for a couple of nights, I don't spend my time worrying if things are okay etc. Thanks for all the advise!

voyager2005.....you'll hate being away from your bubbas the first couple of times beause you'll think noone can do what you do for your kdis like you. They probably can but just not as meticulous as you can (i'm just like that and it's hard letting go).
No however, my only daughters worries (7 and 4) when me and their Dad want to go away is:
1. Is xxxxx going to be here to look after us?
2. Can we sleep in your bed?
If the answer to those questions is yes, then i may as well as gone yesterday.
Take the time ot find a valuable amah (trust your instinct and have your kids with you when you interview, and interview in a neutral place) and she'll be part of your family. Also treat her well, if you treat them like s**t then who are they going to take it out on? Your precious little one.
My kdis tell their friends that we don't have an amah but we do have an Auntie.

It is probably a mindset thing, have to what is best for my child which is then best for me as well. It is good to hear your experience, Totty. I'll keep looking till I'm satisfied!!
