Hi
I will be living in HK but working for a Shenzhen company. I have a number of questions that I would greatly appreciate some feedback on.
HK & China visa / workpass
can I apply for both? will I be allowed to live in HK and work in Shenzhen.
Salary / Currency & Tax
this role is a new postion and is being put together by a joint venture between a business unit in Australia and Shenzhen with both inputing on overhards such as my salary etc. I am Australian and have a mortgage in Australia.
I would prefer to be paid in HK$ and pay HK income tax rates as they are much lower compared to both China and Aus. One option I was considering is that the company has other companies within its group who have offices here in HK, maybe the pay etc can be run through one of these companies.
any ideas or help on this issue would be really appreciated

Working in Shenzhen for a company based there will require you to have a Z visa which applies to China only. This will not give you any rights other than visitor rights to HK. Salary will be subject to PRC tax.
To obtain an HK work visa a company would need to sponsor you for a full time position and prove that the work cannot be performed by a local. Salary would have to be paid in HK then.
To be honest living in HK and working daily in SZ is not a good idea. The travel and waiting for immigration both sides takes up so much of your time, not to mention the 4 stamps you would get in your passport everyday. Unless you live close to the border your daily travel time could be 3 - 4 hours. Better to live SZ and go to HK for weekends.

thanks for the feedback. I will not be working in Shenzhen daily and will probably only go over one or twice a week every two or three weeks, most of my time will be spent travelling and working from home in HK.
It looks like my best option is to get the role put together through one of the HK based companies.

Just need a HK work visa, and as long as you don't exceed the 180 days in Shenzhen/year, I believed, "should check with the China Govt", you would be only subjected to HK tax, or else you are to pay China tax 33% if exceeds. Either case, you do not need a Working Visa for China as you would be treated as going into China on business trip...Make sure you get yourself a 1 year multiple china visitor's visa... So you don't have to get it each time going in...
