Does anyone know the least expensive way to ship goods from the US to HK? I plan to have a box or two sent from the West Coast. It does not have to be very speedy, 2-3 weeks will be OK. Any ideas?

thanks in advance,

elizabeth

I am shipping boxes from US to HK.

Here are some cost estimates for 40 pound box 2x1x1

FedEx:

Priority: 2-3 days - USD$378.00

Standard: 4-6 days - USD$320.00

United States Postal Service:

Priority: 2-3 days - USD$178.00

Standard: 4-6 days - USD$148.00

These are approximate costs and I plan to check DHL's rates to get best costs and arrival time. In most instances sea shipping is no longer an option. Hope this helps!

USPS Priority Flat Rate Box is a good option, too. It costs only about $39 and it takes around 6 days from NY to HK. The weight is capped at 20 lb., though. You can get a flat rate box at any post office. Please check www.usps.com for details.

In the past I have shipped items by boat/freight through the US Postal Service from the East Coast to Hong Kong it takes about 2 1/2 to 3 months. The cost is extremely cheap particularly for those items that are oversized.
