Hi!
I had just relocated to Shanghai with my husband from Hong Kong and I am now in my 8 months pregnancy. I have so many concerns actually! I am going to have deliver my baby in Hong Kong and probably going to stay there for at least 2 months then i'll go back to Shanghai to meet my husband there but I do have some concerns in finding a reliable or trusting maid (Ayi) in helping me out and to take care of my baby coz I do heard a lot of stories from people that it's not a good idea to leave my baby for the maid to take care in China and also my husband parents also told me not to leave the baby for the maid to take care of him alone such as helping him to bath. So all this suggestions has given me some hard times in my plannings, since I really want to go back to work after giving birth (probably wait until he's gonna be around 5 months) and I don't want to give my husband such a burden (plus yeah money wise going back to work is quite critical) but I mean if the maid couldn't take care of my baby wisely I would definitely not going to take this risk at all !! Does anyone knows of any trustful maid that i could find to hire in Shanghai? and also want to get some advice on when should be the best time to go back to work (ex: around how old are the babies) after giving birth?

I think you mean maid not mate! You can not generalise and put all ayi's and maids in one baskets. One family's idea of a perfect, trustworthy maid may not be anothers as we are all different as are our expectations. THe best thing to do would be to ask around, enquire domestic helper agencies, interview the potential employee (because that is what she will be!) and get a feel for how experienced she is with a new born baby, ask lots of questions and when you find someone you think is suitable then have them on a trial period before you go back to work. You both have to gain each others trust and see whether it works (for both yourself and the maid). Good Luck
