Hi..when do babies start sleeping the full night..i have a friend whos baby is sleeping throught the nite as soon as he turned two months old...that sounded too good to be true...my first one never offered me that luxury hence wanted to know what one could do to achieve that..

first one slept through from 11PM-7AM from 12 weeks. The 2nd did it at 10 weeks. Two months seems a bit young to me to actually do it - but I've heard of it happening. Both my girls only breastfed - no supplemental formula either.
You'll get a lot of "love her" "hate her" comments about her - but I used Gina Ford "The Contented Little Baby Book" which advocates a strongly rigid feeding and sleep schedule. Her argument is that if your baby gets the nutrition it needs during the day along with the right number of naps and sleep - they will sleep better and longer at night.
I'm sure MANY will have their opinion on her - but she has made all the difference in my life and my baby's lives. I have two toddlers now (15 months and 3 years) who sleep on their own, in their own bed, the older one from 8-7 every day and the younger one from 7-7.

i feed my baby (3.5mts)more often during the day - once every 2.5 hrs - don't wait for him to cry and ask for it - he was waking up just once around 3pm - but now doesn't do that anymore. he sleeps from 8.30 till 6am.

I was told by my UK health visitor that a baby would not normally sleep through the night until it was at least 6 months and she told me to feed the baby at night when it needed it and to ignore the advice I had received from MIL! to ignore the cries, she told me that until 6 months most babies need a feed in the night.

the answer to the eternal question is that every baby is different!
some parents try like crazy with a routine but can be resisted by the baby. some take a more relaxing approach and sometimes the baby just falls naturally into a routine.
we follow gina ford and at about 3-4 months plus, we had him sleeping from 11pm-7am (bedtime at 7pm, dreamfeed at 10.30pm). but i had friends who did the same but it didn't necessarily work for them.

Both babies only breast feed
Our first baby at 2 months was still eating 11pm, 1am, 4am, then eventually it changes to 11pm and 3am, and at 12 weeks changes to just 11pm.
Our second baby is 2 months now, and since one month she only wakes up once between 7pm- 6am. At first it was between 1-3 am, now it is later, usually between 3-5 am. So we haven't bothered with the 'dream feed' as she does so well without it.
every baby is different, and if, when I was struggling with my first baby, you told me that your baby was like my second one I would have hated you :) At the moment I still can't believe it and am just thrilled we are this lucky... I also spend all late afternoon feeding her!!
