I think exotissimo is a respected operation here in Ha Noi - don't know if they have a presence in HK

I've just used them on the back of this recommendation, and have been REALLY impressed so far. Have not travelled yet, but they were tremendously efficient in making the boking, replying to e-mails etc and a lot cheaper than booking directly with the hotel.

Also try handspan.com. based in hanoi - can do bookings online - excellent service - very prompt responses. Really good.

There is absolutely NO NEED for a tour op to see VietNam.

Handspan is more of a travel agent than a bona fide travel agent.

All you need is a Vietnamese visa (consul in HK) and to figure out the cheapest way to VN (Tiger from MaCau via Singapore).

You will really need 3 weeks to cover the country properly (Exotissimo doesn't in a single tour).

What class accommodation do you need?

You can get lots of DIY info from < http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g293921-i8432-Vietnam.html >

Starting either HCMC or Ha Noi the trip would be (assuming Ha Noi start)

Ha Noi >>(book your SaPa rail journey at the station YOURSELF before heading for HLB) >> Ha Long Bay >>(pre-book online with www.Tropical-Sails.com) >> Ha Noi >>rail>> Sa Pa >> rail >> Ha Noi >> rail sleeper >> Hue >> (either An Phu or Sinh bus) >> Hoi An >>(sleeper train from Da Nang booked in Hoi An) >> Nha Trang >> (either An Phu or Sinh bus) >> Da Lat >> (either An Phu or Sinh bus) >> Ho Chi Minh City.

I have used Exotissimo many times and them not being in HK and me being in HK has never been a problem. I deal with the tour desk at La Residence, in Hue, Mr Dzung. He has done all my trips and nothing has ever gone wrong, cars have always been there, correct rooms booked. My friends have used him and its worked well as well. His email is lrhtraveldesk@exotissimo.com Mr Dzung. Exotissimo get the best rate for hotels all over Vietnam as they are so big. It is easy to book internal flights online with Vietnam Airlines but Mr Dzung can also do it.

Yes Vietnam is one of wonderful destinations for many travelers. I remember the wonderful time we had in Sapa last year. It is a green mountainous district of Lao Cai and wonderful place to visit due It`s small villages and very friendly locals. It's a bit heavy on the tourism, but worth the crowds in my opinion. When we were in Sapa we did our journey walking along Muong Hoa river. Overall, this is the most beautiful scene walks in Sapa. And Hanoi is beautiful, Ha Long Bay is a must see and I love Sapa with its amazing scenery and colorful cultures of the ethnic groups. Plus Sapa is the only place in Vietnam that ever gets snow.

Hi, I have made a video website that is hopefully helpful for your trip to Vietnam. A few videos cover the lifestyle and cultural aspect of Vietnam then the rest are about areas or cities. The videos will give you a good feel of Vietnam and a better idea of what the areas and cities really look like.

All the best from Germany
