Hi,

My 8 month old baby has heat rash on his back, due to his perspiration. Allergist says to put constarch, has anyone tried if this is OK? i bought a brand from Johnsons but i'm afraid he can "inhale" the powder.

Thanks.....

pigeon has a great baby powder compact - so you can apply it much like your own face powder - no dust flying everywhere. Try Wingon or Jusco for it.

If you have the powder already, dab it on your hands first - not directly on to your babs. Avoid his face. Or put some in a old (clean) sock and use that as a powder puff, dabbing it on.

Also a cool bath with baking soda (not baking powder) can help. About 1/2 teaspoon per litre of water, I think but I'm ready to be corrected on that. The bath is also good for sunburn but I'm sure you won't need it for that.

Yes cornstarch works well, however, do not shake or sprinkle it on to avoid the baby inhaling it. Place some in your hands away from the baby's face, rub your palms together and then apply.

Ensure that your baby is kept in a cool dry environment and dressed lightly to avoid sweating.

Zinc oxide powder works well too.
