Hi all,
I'm going to be in Shenzhen every other week with my hubby and will mostly be stuck in the hotel. I want to go out while he's at work but not sure if it's a good idea since I keep hearing how unsafe Shenzhen is. Is it really that bad?
Ladies, I need your opinions on what things/areas to watch out for.
Plus, which shopping malls are good to check out. I heard of this mall where all the fake bags/tailors are. Can anyone tell me about it?
I am also hoping to meet some expat ladies that are free to meet up during the day. It'll be great to meet you guys since I'm going to be down there often. Please PM me if you're interested.
Cheers.

I have spent a lot of time in SZ and I really do not believe that it is a safe place. Please stay with people and be cautious and try not to attract too much attention or flash lots of money around. Stay close to the hotel if you are alone. Good luck.

The art village is great - 15 mins from Lo Wu. Get your hotel to arrange a car.

Thanks for your reply everyone. I haven't been anywhere yet but just to the Mixc shopping mall to eat. Knock on wood, I haven't experienced anything I felt unsafe but mind you I haven't walked along the streets or places that are crowded. I do however find taxis here use more common sense and know where they're going much more than in Shanghai. Surprisingly, they answer when you talk to them. In Shanghai, most are mute.
don't know why - Thanks for the info but where is this massage place? I am staying around Futian area and wants a nice massage place. I don't care too much about sauna really. If anyone could tell me a nice place I really appreciated. No hanky panky of course.
Also thanks JWM for the bargaining tips:). I think I got enough DVDs in SH so no need for that for sure.
Thanks again everyone. Also, anyone knows good places to check out around Futian area?
Cheers

There is a lot going in Shenzhen for expats...pick up the magazine "PRD" it is free and you get it at most Starbuck's and hotels.
Yes you do need to be aware of pick pockets in Shenzhen just as you do in LKF, Wan Chai Causeway Bay and TST and Mong Kok.

I will be based in Guangzhou but have free time for travel in China before I start working on July 5. Do you have any suggestions about what I should do in Shanghai.
My days off are M,T,W and would enjoy meeting you for sightseeing in Shenzhen on those days.
