It combines old chinese streets, stores, families

with new, fashion pubs and restaurants. For some area, you feel like you're at home more than in a asian country. Mid-levels' famous

of its traditional luxury. In my opinion, it's more suitable for someone who have family to live there.

For the person living and working the first time in Hong Kong - would you suggest Mid-Level or Soho?

mid levels unless you don't need to sleep.

We lived in Soho, temp apartment for month, and it was too hot and too crowded. If you live in Mid Levels you'll get a bit more peace and quiet when you want to. Soho is still very near, so getting to bars and restaurants won't be an issue.

The lines between the areas are very fuzzy and real estate agents are quite liberal with the use of area names.

My understanding is that SOHO is (SOUTH OF HOLYWOOD ROAD) so basically Staunton St, Elgin St and maybe Caine Road from Old bailey Street across to Aberdeen Street.

Midlevels would be more like Caine Road, Robinson Road, Conduit Road and it stretches out more like over to the botanical gardens and along to Seymore Street.

Central is more like Wellington Street, Peel Street, Stanley Street and Queens Road.

Sheung Wan is basically from the corner of Aberdeen Street & Caine Road over toward Western Street and down to Bonham Road.

Actual Soho could be quite noisy with quite small apartments but you don't have to go very far to get a better deal ie: along the end of Staunton Street it becomes Bridges Street and beyond that Sheung Wan which is far more reasonable but still a great location.

I would recommend you look for yourself and pay attention to the building names because the properties are advertised by name rather than address.

Also check out the YPMAP.com website where you can search by street, area or building.

Thank you all, I will turn around the city, and visit each area, and avoid making immediate decision. When paying attention to the building names what exactly am I paying attention to? What do the building names mean? Thank you!

Each building has a name ie: valiant heights, bella vista, caine manor, cherry crest etc This is what you will see in real estate windows. The only building I know of that uses it's address is 80 Robinson Road. When you are looking at apartments it is easy for different agents to take you back to the places you have already seen so if you pay attention to the names you can avoid wasting your time.
