B&Q

We went there yesterday. Not much really that you cannot find elsewhere. If you plan to build a house from scratch (which I doubt happens here in HK), then you may want to visit as they have everything under one roof for you. They have a whole area for bathroom fittings, doors, floorings, planks of wood and stuff. But I wonder because don't people here buy flats with kitchens and bathrooms already outfitted? Unless you want to tear it down.


Not quite sure about the business model of this store whether it will work for HK. Great for places like UK or Aus where you have proper houses and people have a DIY culture. Not sure here though.


For furniture, I would stick to IKEA, GOD and the centrally located stores. For other home fixtures, better to go to Wanchai - the whole long street there and you would get the same options. Megabox is in the middle of an industrial zone! Although might change a bit - the whole Megabox itself might be worth a visit in the next few months with the IMAX and olympic size skating rink...most of the shops still closed.


One more thing, we bought a couple of small item stuff so as not to waste our trip there as it was in the middle of the industrial district and they charged us 10 cents for each plastic bag. It's not the amount really but did they expect us to bring bags in a newly opened store?!? Strange and annoying.

I was there on Saturday. Nothing too impressive and a little expensive on some items, but handy to have them all in one place.

One observation, all the labels are in Cantonese, Yes I know I'm in Hong Kong but there's a lot of expats here that I'm sure will use the place. The prices are there but I don't know what there refer too!

Does anyone know the opening times for B&Q and the new Spotlight store? I couldn't see them on the website.
