With this latest mishap - do you think you would be less likely to experience the cable car? Was planning to go on it with some guests from out of town today but can't! I don't understand the frequency of the mishaps here.
I used to live in Switzerland and cable cars and funiculars were incredibly reliable. The ngongping cable car system was buuilt by a Swiss company i believe.
So is it a case of bad management as the press would like us to believe or are there any other possible reasons for this?

Well worth it on a clear day as you can see some amazing views. Small mishap I would not worry.

Not a small mishap had anyone actually been travelling in it at the time.... I have been on it and thought it was great, but would definately think twice about going on again now I know the cars can fall off.

I have been on this too and also thought it was a great ride with fantastic views. That is why this "mishap" made me feel quite sick when I read about it this morning. In my view, the only way that the cable car business will survive after this is for a very detailed enquiry into the accident followed by a very public finding of the cause and the action to be taken to ensure that it does not happen again. Given that it occurred after hours, it may have been as a result of a stress test which would not have happended during normal operation. If not, then they need to show detailed safety emergency procedures to ensure that where primary attachment fails, a secondary emergency attachment kicks in. If this had been during normal operation with 20 people on board, this "mishap" would have resulted in 20 people dead for sure. That is what makes me feel sick as I am not keen on heights and did not for a moment feel in danger while I was on it.

I was really looking forward to taking the children on it over the Summer Vacation. We won't be going any where near it now.
