While I've been traveling through Asia on business, my wife has spent most of the last three months in Hong Kong. I'm now preparing to open a branch office in HK but it's going to take 8-10 weeks before the office and visas are ready. This means her current 90 day landing visa in Hong Kong will run out. We're considering spending a weekend in Macau and then return to HK but we're uncertain if that's going to raise flags with the ID. Alternatively she could fly back to the US for a while until we get the new visas, but she'd rather not.
Thoughts?
Has anyone heard of problems with HK visitors who "renew" landing visas by spending a weekend in Macau? If a weekend isn't long enough, how long is safe? She'll have been in HK for almost 80 days soon, so we need to decide something.

I dont think is a problem as long as your wife has not overstayed.
I've been "renewing" my visa thru macau too, but I did that on a monthly basis.
And dressing well helps too, i think.

We assume your wife holds a US passport and if so you should have no difficulty receiving a "fresh" 90 stay in HK after enjoying a break to Macau.
IF you get your application in to immigration here in HK for your job (and assuming you would include a dependent application for your wife)...the Immigration Department will issue you a white receipt to put in your passports which will ease your exit and entry to HK until your case is fully processed.
Any further information please contact us; of course we would be pleased to assist you in your application for a Hong Kong work authorization.
