Rental Bond problem?

Just wondering if anyone has had problems with a landlord refusing to return the rental bond? Has anyone ever considered not paying the last month or two (equivalent rent) in lieu of the bond?

Is there an official body (like a tenancy tribunal) that can deal with this?

Would appreciate any advice on how to deal with this situation should it arise.

I think it is standard practice NOT to pay the last 2 months rent as yes unscrupulous landlords are a plenty and it is more difficult to get your bond back than say it would be Australia, also if you are leaving HK then who wants to have to wait to get your money back?

I have heard stories of tenants exiting the flat and the bond being returned but not for months.

Be aware with not paying your last two months rent. The deposit is to cover any breahages and damage. If you do not pay then the landlord may terminate your agreement and take action to recover thr two months unpaid rent. I have been in over 12 apartments over the years and I am happy to say I have never had a problem with getting the deposit back.
