resignation and legal consequences

My former employer has appointed sollicitors n is claiming 10K in damage n losses after I ve resigned less than 2 days on the job (i got a better offer n then tendered my resignation in writting immediatly after having started). I ve been given a week to pay this amount.

The 10K represent the time n costs incured to recruit me but also the loss of opportunities the company is supposedly going to have to deal with due to me leaving the company (which is quite amazing given i was in the company for less than 2 days in total).

In my contract nothing is mentioned regarding termination of employment agreement from the employee's side and absolutely nothing is stated regarding the consequences of me resigning / terminating the contract.

There is also no mention to any probation period. However there is a part stating reasons for which my employer can terminate the contract (which is normal).

It s stated that in case of dispute the singaporean law would apply.

Do you know how legitimate this is as it seems to me incredible to be charged 10K whereas it s purely n simply a resignation (after 2 days which is bad timing i would agree) n the financial claims to substantiate the 10K are purely based on assumptions and clearly abusive.

Thanks a lot for your help n advice if u know about the singaporean labor laws that would apply in such case and if i could truely be in trouble.
