Could some one please inform me what the tax rate is in China for a salary of approx RMB35000 per month.

Depends if you are a foreigner or Chinese and what industry.When I worked in Shanghai the first 4000rmb was tax free then it went up in steps to 20%.In Guangzhou it was a flat 20% after 4000rmb.

Talk to your employer about this they should be able to clear it up.
