Now i know this may sound a silly a**e question but 'can you paint over wallpaper?'.

I don't want to try it and then realise i can't halfway through.

Thanks very much and anyone know if i can get paint testers as i, in another room, don't need to do a big area, infact little squares.

You can (as already stated), but I'm not so sure it's advisable. In my view - particularly in a place like HK, but also anywhere else for that matter - there are too many risks. Much better to take the time to strip away the wallpaper, prepare the wall surface properly and then paint. Much better chance of the wall ending up looking something like you'd want it to look.

we did it went we rented a place - a good cheap alternative to stripping then painting - lasted 2 years with no problems. if you own, then probably worth doing the full strip and paint job for durability and finish quality.

Hi Siakunga,

Where can I obtain this 'seaweed glue' that u recommended above. I have recently moved to HK and decided to paint the Bathroom - as cheap way to brighten the place but the paint seems to be cracking/chipping off the walls...just wondering whether this stuff might solve the problem??

Also, is it clear in colour?

Any help wud be gladly received as first time away from home and really have no idea with DIY stuff.
