New computer

I have the same issues. For about 2 months, I couldn't use my HP photo printer- I even tried to access it through my network (husband's pc is still on XP) with no luck either. My printer model was the only photosmart printer that did not have a vista driver for whatever reason. Thankfully, HP finally made a driver available recently- maybe due to public outcry (I sent them an email stating that if I am forced to buy another printer that it wouldn't be a HP printer). I actually regret upgrading to Vista and will think twice next time about upgrading so soon after MS introduces a new system.

I've just bought a new printer (not HP) and included in the package was a note attached to the driver CD saying that if I had Vista installed I would need to download a different driver from a specified website. Luckily I have XP installed. This is par for the course when a new OS is launched - it will take all other manufacturers time to catch up with upgrading their drivers. It's unbfortunate that they don't talk to each other beforehand.

It is actually obvious that Vista will have problems even tho they said that they start from scratch. Look at WinXP, loads of problems that needed plenty of patches to solve it and still the problem is ongoing. The latest problem Vista has was that it made other search engine slower when doing a search, now they are solving it after other companies complained, very tricky people.

Why shld other companies update their software for Vista? That doesn't make sense. All the problems lies within Vista and not other companies. When they want the public to use their products, they shld make sure everything is in order as in working with companies such as HP, Canon, etc...to make sure all the drivers are up-to-date. Overall is Microsoft's problem. Even DELL is reversing all their PC n laptops to come with WinXP.
