Heard of it, something like you poop out rocks and stones .... painful too. But if you can do it, yeah, must be good for your body. Not everyone can tolerate the process though.

Very few dr's I know think detoxing is necessary - our bodies have an amazing ability to do it all by itself unless you have a condition prohibiting it like boozing it up and eating serious junk.

jwm, I don't know if I should be flattered that you pester me or offended.....

All of my dr's support Chinese meds and herbal meds. Not ONE says that having hydrotherapy and detox is necessary unless you have some serious problems. Like, not being able to have a bowel movement for over a week. Yes, they do say have some treatment because a small enema does not work.

I'm all for trying lots of things to remain youthful and active and have tried hydrtherapy and found it to be tiring and useless.

I do take lots of supplements and use a lot of essential oils and think I'm pretty new age abt alternate health.

One of my ex-colleagues has a detox recipe, by brewing 2 big chinese radish(white color) in a slowcooker with a few mugs of water until water turned into pale golden color ( about 10-12 hrs)

Taste like some type of tea and frequency is max 1x per mth.

I absolutely agree with Tidings, plenty of doctors are against detox. The explanation is that while it removes all the "supposed" bad bacteria/toxins, it gets rid of all the good bacteria too. Also there are not too many doctors performing lavages or detoxs and therefore these procedures or diets are lacking in adequate regulation. I do know of someone that had their bowel perforated from a lavage.

Your body is self regulating; if we were meant to clean ourselves out we would have come with a hose attachment!

Such an imature statement. I would really doubt that people do this for the "tube insertion" pleasure. Perhaps they have problems and this is a way to assist their partiucular issues.

Adeleide, you are right it does flush out all the bacteria, bad and good, however, at the conclusion of the treatment, they do give you a pill that has the "good" bacteria so they are back in your system in know time.

BLoodDiamond, i dont think what I said is immature at all.

You've taken it or read it the wrong way. If we were meant to have treatments such as lavage then our colons would work the other way and there would some form of mechanism to clean outselves out. As we are currently built, the colon has sphincters that are built to prevent the flow of material the other way, back towards the small intestine. i think that is there for a reason.

I never mentioned a tube insertion pleasure... not sure what you are referring to.

Adelaide...My maturity comment was directed towards a person who was removed for the thread already, sorry, should have listed their name.

As for where the "tubes" come from, they are surgical tubes that are sealed and sanitary and are one use only. Many people are making assumptions based on their imagination of what the process and procedure is, not having gone. I have done this nad can tell you it is not at all what many posters here have indicated. It is extremely safe, clean and good for your body, in moderation, just like anything else. It does rid the body of waste that is collected in the may twists and turns of the intestine, that normal laxatives and bowl movements can extract.

Again, totally understand it's not for everybody

and many are skeptics, I was as well, but those who have not tried it or do not understand it, should really not knock it.

ARE THEY SERIOUS?

The normal range of charges for an experienced orthodontist will be in the range of HKD30-40,000,

all inclusive of retention for one year, but not including extractions if they are needed.

I am guessing medical doctors know a little bit more about the human body than the random human (with who knows what credentials) on the other side of a computer screen answering internet questions. For all you know you are extolling the virtues of the work experience kid!

Talk about blind faith!

A lot of doctors see the value in other therapies other than conventional medicine. I think the main point is that you really are putting your body in the care and trust of people who may not be adequately trained or informed about potential risks, side effects etc. If it works for you and you feel better, great. i just happen to agree with the medical opinion I have received (and one that i trust)that detoxing etc are not seen as medical necessities so why put yourself at risk of infection or worse, perforation.

Yes of course, it is me I am naive because i prefer to attend, in person, the rooms of a trained specialist for advice rather than some anonymous naturopath (who query whether they have a licence) on a website.

Very sound reasoning foolonahill - keep up the good work.

OH, and for sure you got the head naturopath.... keep telling yourself that.
