We seem to have some kind of bug in our carpet and sofa. Not sure what it is but something gives us these little bites on our skin (small red dot and itchy). I have no idea what it is. We already had our carpet cleaned outside. I am eight months pregnant and don't want anything harmful. Can anyone help?

No pets. Our home is newly renovated. What are noseeums? I think it originally came from the carpet and has never fully exterminated despite having it cleaned outside. Any ideas?

I've had it happen to me in a few bars and restaurants here. For sure it's like an tiny insect bite but I have never pursued it, I just don't go back to those places.
Ask your dr if it's Scabies.

Yes we have plenty of green trees around. I think it originates from our carpet and it just never went away despite getting it cleaned. I think it spread to our sofa.

Hi Ninalee,
Noseeums are insects you don't see because they're too small. They leave tiny bite marks which itch horribly, but in my experience the itching doesn't last for long.
A few months ago I was getting bitten by something when sleeping every night, and I asked for advice on this site but unfortunately no-one had had exactly the same experience so they couldn't be much help. Yours could be the same as mine, whatever they are. I still haven't resolved my problem - sleeping on the sofa where I'm OK - but when I get around to it I'm going to have my flat sprayed by Asia Pest Control. there's a tin/can of something you can buy at any one of the two larger supermarkets. You just press the nozzle and leave the room and it'll fumigate all nasties in the designated area (should be safe for humans but check on tin/can for instructions).

We just used 2 of these cans to fumigate 2 of our bedrooms. Its called 'Speedtox' and it gets rid of fleas and mites. Costs HKD69.90 each. You need to of course shut all the windows, then pour some water into it where you'll start seeing some kind of steam coming out, and then leave the house for 3 hours. However as you're pregnant get your husband or maid (if you have one) to come back and open all the windows first. You should not feel any itching after that. We tend to do this about once a month.

Hey, I think I got bit by those insects at a restaurant on the Peak! my legs are covered in itchy red dots. And I don't have carpets.
They are sooooo itchy! Please tell me that the itching will stop soon.

I use Biocycle too. The insecticide they use is safe for humans. In fact, we stay in the house when they spray, and we don't need to wash all the dishes again after the spraying. I have been using their services for 5 years now, and have not had any insect problems.
