when to start giving other thing than milk to the baby? I've heard that from the 4th month, is this correct?

Talk to your pediatrician.
The AAP's current statement is that ONLY breastmilk, for 6 months - is the most beneficial. But each baby is a different case scenarios. Both of mine were given only breastmilk for 6 months and then after completing their six month, they started on solids.
It can start after completion of the 4th month, although some experts claim that this leads to high rates of allergies.
Ultimately there are some signs that your own baby is ready - can he or she sit up? Does she have enough coordination to handle the food in his or her mouth? (watch for thrusting action) But for sure, consult your pediatrician. There is no need to start early unless your baby has a specific reason to.

If you are talking about solids the new research and latest recommendations are to delay solids until 6 months of age. Introducing solids earlier is linked to increased food allergies and obesity.
Breastfeeding is recommended exclusively for the first 6 months of life, then to continue into the first year and beyond with the introduction of solids at 6 months.
Formula fed babies should continue on formula milk and commence solids at 6 months in line with the current recommendations.
