Baby food in Shanghai

ORIGINAL POST

A friend is bringing her 8 months old baby to Shanghai from Europe for the weekend. Having never been in Asia, she's concerned where to get proper babyfood over there. He is too small to have Hepetitis A shots so please those who know Shanghai advise on where to get baby food for 8 months old. I imagine she'll want some international brand she recognizes... Any help greatly appreciated.

Not sure about SH but in GZ most supermarkets have Heinz baby food. Here in GZ Jusco has the best range - it's nowhere near as good as in Europe but it's managable.

Some of our foreign food deli's also have organic baby food - I'm sure you'll find it's the same in SH.

Other thing depending on what kind of food her child eats is to bring a hand held blender

You can get a decent range of jars of baby food in the City supermarket on the ground floor of the Portman Ritz Carlton complex. I think they have a few of the large European and American brands, including organics. Say "port-a-man" to the taxi driver and she will have no trouble getting there.

Foreign brands of baby food can also be found in Carrefour (which is widespread across shanghai). Brands like Bledina (French), and Heinz, and Gerber are available.
