Does anybody have any experience in applying for LPR status on the Mainland? It seems I qualify, but getting answers from the police about the application process and documentation required is like pulling teeth.

There are several categories under which one can apply for permanent residence. Which one(s) will you apply under?

I'm elegible under two categories -- married to a PRC citizen and as VP of a major multinational. I'm from the US if it makes any difference.

As long as you have three years in China in your post, the company has over $2 million in paid-up registered capital in China (there are exceptions) and you can prove satisfactory personal taxation, applying due to your position is easier than applying based on marriage to a PRC national or permanent resident.

If you apply based on marriage, you need to have been married at least 5 years, have lived in China 5 years continuously subsequent to marriage and just prior to your application, "stable" residence and employment.

The most difficult document to obtain will likely be the proof of no criminal convictions.
