Re-gain property in Guangzhou

My granfather has a couple of property in Guangzhou with deed paper, because he had pass away and we didn't follow up. Now the property had the subway system built over it. Can any lawyer(s) in GZ or law firm(s) have any idea what we can do to re-gain it back???

All land are state owned or collectively owned after the formation of PRC. Buildings may be protected (of course, details still have to be studied). Are you referring to buildings? Are these buildings still standing? With the subway system built over it seems to suggest that the buildings are gone.

Take your documentation to the Guangdong provincial land bureau. They could give you a definitive answer.
