LOST DOG-desperate to find my baby girl

ORIGINAL POST
Posted by CLM 19 yrs ago
Lost last Sat (30th) I am hoping that there might be dog lovers who walk the HK trails who might look out for her.

She is 18mths old. A HK mongrel- black with tan accents. Her special feature is her prominent eyebrows. She is gentle, but very timid. Her name is Princess Bauhinia. "Bo" for short.

She was last seen on Coombe Rd near the Aberdeen Country Park (July 1st). I think she may be on Blacks Link now.

Don't give up. People find their dogs a week later in parks all the time.....the dogs hide from fright.

Please keep us posted here and all the best luck.

Dear CLM, please hang on in there, I know this will be a very stressful time for you and your family. I will go to the areas you have mentioned with my dogs this afternoon and take a good look around.

All the best

I lost my dog about a year and a half ago in Pokfulam Country Park - she also is very timid and I knew she wouldn't come to any strangers who might be calling her, so I was very afraid I wouldn't find her.

I posted a notice up here and many people came up with good ideas and support. What we did that I think helped us find her: I plastered the area with signs with a colour picture of her, with descriptions in English (and someone translated the same in Chinese), contact details if anyone had seen her and ultimately a reward of $500 HK. I also tied some of my dirty socks to the rails around the areas she had been seen in - actually the spot we found her was about 100 meters from where she'd run off and just where I'd put up some of my socks - so obviously she'd recognized my smell and hung out there. We found her when one of the older Hong Kong folk who exercise up on the mountain in the morning caught sight of her, had seen our signs and used his mobile to call us - we were able to run up there as quickly as we could and called her out of the bushes.

I really think that you shouldn't give up - she's out there somewhere. Please let me know if I can help in any way.

My dog was lost last saturday morning, and was sighted at Coombe Rd on Sunday night, so it wasn't the dog on Kotewall Road. My dog is not intelligent and is terrified of crossing roads. I love her anyway :) Thanks for your help. She may be as far as the Peak by now.

Hi CLM,thanks for the update please keep us informed of any news. As promised I spent several hours walking my dogs in the area where your dog went missing. I called your dogs name until it got too dark to be walking around up there. Will go back to the area again tomorrow, someone is sure to see her.

Take care

Bauhinia was spotted about 7am on Sunday morning, lying on the road at the Peak end of Stubbs Rd- right near the Country Park , so she has stayed in the same area. By the time I got there shehad gone into hiding for the day. Will go at dawn tomorrow and late tonight.

I know this sounds nuts but is there anyway you could take some chairs and small table and just sit there for several hours and read and eat and just hang around the area? It may help too. The dog could smell your scents.

Thank you for your message. I think she has a hiding spot somewhere near the entrance to the Aberdeen Country Park. She is getting food from somewhere- I am sure the food I leave is eaten by cats because they leave the dry food and only eat the canned food. I havent given up yet.

Aberdeen Country Park is a beautiful place to walk. The entrance is where Stubbs Rd meets Peak Rd. There is parking. There are waterfalls and swimming pools(for your dog).Mosquitos are really bad though. I was at the entrance at 5.30 this morning and i will go back this evening. She is afraid of people so I assume she comes looking for food when it is quite.

Hi- I just dont know.... That is the area that she has been spotted twice. There is lots of places to hide, and people around where she can get food. I went at 5.15am to try to see her before the sun came up- no luck. I am hoping someone will see the posters and spot her. Thanks for trying! I really appreciate it.

Try giving out posters of ur dog to vets too, that might help. And for those tat are walking their dogs there, be alert of ur dogs behaviour. When my pup went missing for a week, a dog actually leads its owner to him.

Yeah, i took my dog. there was a dog barking up the hill but i couldn’t tell if it was coming from the first house you see from the rd, near to the entrance of the park.

Have you tried to speak to any of the regulars up there doing their walks/ tai chi and asked for them to keep a look out for your pooch.

Will keep visiting there and try and find her. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

I am out looking for her at least twice a day. I have made contact with all the regular park people/ staff/ dog walking helpers/ night watchmen/ contruction workers and road workers.

Even the Tai Chi people who start arriving at 5.30am. Iknow she is in there- she probably sees me every day but for some reason wont come out

CLM,

I wish you the best of luck - and don't give up. Years ago I lived on a boat in Causeway Bay typhoon shelter and my cat disappeared one night. Seven weeks later he was found on a boat down at Aberdeen! It turned out that this boat had been moored alongside on the same night as our boat had been, and he'd jumped ship. The owner knew there was a cat on his boat and had told his boat boy to get rid of it. Luckily the boat boy disobeyed him and had been feeding my cat.

Please keep us posted on this site and let us know when Bo is home safe and sound.

Also any helpers that you see walking dogs in the area on a regular basis may have the chance of seeing your dog so talking to them might help.

I think making contact with the early AM Tai Chi crowd is a great step - they are the ones who spotted Stanley (my lost dog).

Good luck! I'm really hoping you can find your pup.

Hi The meeting spot is at the Playground at the entrance to Aberdeen Country Park. It s well lit. This is wher Stubbs Rd, Peak Rd, Coombe Rd and Blacks Link all meet. The Police Museum is located there and there is plenty of parking. Mozzies were not too bad last night but spry would be good. I take strong smelling cat food with me. My number is 9573 4099. I think I will go at 9pm. Thanks for all your good wishes. She ha been missing for 2 weeks as of today.

oh that's too bad thought lots of people were going for the 9 pm Sat night search so I changed to the early morning shift.

We just returned home with our two dogs now 2pm Sunday afternoon started early, early in the morning. Began searching in the area the dog was last seen, saw that the cat food left out by Candice had gone and dog biscuits were left.Did return hours later after doing the trails around to find the dog biscuits had been eaten by 11 am . Went into the bushes near by the area to find.. yep lots of FAT cats. Came across a large picnic area and a plastic rubbish bin which had been knocked over and it was clear to see food had been eaten from this bin. I have the picnic area code if anyone is checking in the area check out the loop trail " Aberdeen P.H.A.B. B.B.Q. site Area site 2 code location KK 072637

Well it's good to know there's lots of small water streams she can get water. Covered Wanchai Gap road too, so now I'm off to bed will check the website when I wake up.

Good Luck

Going out after dinner tonight to walk the trail from Stubbs Rd down to Aberdeen (if it is not too dark) Still searching for her- I am worried that wild dogs might have attacked her. The park ranger told me there are a few that go thru the bins at night

Please support our advertisers:
CLM 19 yrs ago
She was registered as missing with the police, AFCD, SPCA on the first day. She is microchipped, desexed .

Please support our advertisers:
deliran 19 yrs ago
If she's submissive (which it sounds like she is) and a female, I don't think the stray/wild dogs in the park will attack her. She could be running around with them though. I found when I was looking for my (then) lost dog, that the 'wild' dogs aren't actually too frightening, they just bark a lot to try to scare people away.

This is not unusual.

I used to stay at HMT near the market and there was a old dog near a fruit stall always sitting or lyign in the front. Then govt. came (urban renewal), cleared the whole market, the dog moved with owners to Tai-Po, NT. But after few weeks the owners left the dog alone (abandoned).

Guess what, after about 8-days, the dog showed up at the same fruit stall in HMT (which was a site now). We saw it, shrivelled, hair gone due to ticks and down to the bones. We gave him food etc but the poor creature died within hours of reaching. Unconditional Love!

Hi there Lamma - I suggets you open a new thread as many will not open this one as its so old (I did by mistake) and they may not read down to the bottom. Alos you need to say what type of dog / what she looks like.

Good luck.
