We are looking into moving flats and want to know if anyone has any experiences in Tung Chung area. Is the area heavily polluted because it is so near the airport? What are playgroup, kindergartens and primary schools like at that end? Would appreciate any advice.

I have lived in TC for 3 years and stay at Caribbean Coast. My daughter was 3 yrs old when we transferred.
There are lots of kindergartens in the area, both local and International. At our place in Caribbean Coast, there are lots of kids there who hang out at the very nice clubhouse, and they usually see their friends/playmates there.
Personally the pollution here in TC is not that obvious. Its right by the bay and there is always a breeze from it. I think the pollution they claim here in TC is hyped up.
The community in TC has grown the past few years. But it is basically made up of the aiport crew, such as pilots and flight attendants. It is still mostly local here but with a proliferation of other nationalities as well.
For primary school, the near ones are the local schools. If you want an International school, options are the new ESF DBPIS at discovery bay, ESF Kowloon Junior or Lantau IS.
I personally would recommend living in TC because of the community, the large open spaces, proximity to the airport, relatively newer flats and the quietness...
Hope this helps...

Thanks, dagregado, your advice really does help and my hubby said the same about the pollution thing which doesn't put us off. I like the idea due to the fact that things are relatively new and that flat prices are reasonable as opposed to those on HK Island or Kowloon nicer areas like Olympia. We currently live in Yuen Long so don't really want to live in a busy area. We have alot of weighing to do before deciding our location as we will be taking into account of our son who is coming upto 1 at the end of the month.
