Just wondering: what part of HK's local arts and culture interests (or shocks) you the most?

The lack of interest shocks me.

DIY culture is not v.popular in HK. for all house repairs adjustments etc... they just call their "decoration-guy" and he measurs everything, buys the stuff and then sends his men to do the fitting. he walks in later and collects his fee.
Retail guys/gals being rude... we can write tomes about them. Here is just one instance.
i know an indian friend who gets hassled everytime she goes to shop. the gals tell her flats no no ... no other colors are there, or pretend they dont understand her. for everything she says they say no no .. no no... some of the shops in the bigger malls even trail behind her as she picks up stuff. (she carries a miniscule clutch) and has no where to put away the shop stuff by the way.....
she speaks fluent cantonese but just doesnt to choose to speak to them in that language. She is always dressed in expensive clothes and has short stylish hair. (i mean she doesnt look like she has just hopped off the village bus an hour ago)
2 weeks ago she had it when she saw the item on the top shelf and told the gal to get it down, she said no no.. no for you.. it cost xxx dollars. you have money? <<>>>
my friend blasted her right on the spot with choice cantonese swear words thrown in, saying in her factory across the border she has more than 100people and she can buy her entire shop if she wished to do so. needless to say both the cantonese girls were like statues when she left the shop.
that is HK service for you even after innumerable media ads by celebrities requesting hongkongers to be civil to customers and tourists alike.

The smelly toilet. The seats in the MTR are almost occuppied by mans instead of someone who need them like old peoples or preggies. Most of them are not interested to give way to people with pram. When you tell the sales person you want this and that, instead of telling you they do not have it or they could help you to find in other stores. They would start telling you why don't you try this???? In the raining days, you would get poke by the umbrella if you DO NOT tried to avoid them. They presumed it your own faulted.

Looks like Andy Lau still has work to do!
Actually I found the courtesy of people on MTR better than KCR. When I was in crutches a few years ago, nine times out of 10, I would end up standing on my single good leg for the whole journey (from Sheung Shiu to Kowloon) - and once even got shouldered out of the way for being too slow to get on board!
MTR was a different story, I always got offered a seat no matter how crowded...
