I am thinking about purchasing a flat in Taikoo Shing, can anyone give me some inputs of the quality of living there? Do you like it? thanks!

I lived around that area for 3 years now, it is a nice place to live, with many schools, cinema and shopping area around, they even have a Quarry Bay park to walk around. Prices in Jusco and Aptica is significantly lower than Great and slightly lower than Citysuper.

Strength:
- Convenient on both eating/shopping and transportation. If your work has a covered walkway link to MTR, you don't need an umbrella all the way to your work, let alone typhoon signal #8 (could be bad if your boss knows you could have no problem coming to work in such condition and not getting wet at all!)
- Good resale market.
- Good management of the building and the surrounding
- High percentage of usable floor area as the unit is mostly in square shape (except the building by the sea in diamond shape)
Weakness:
- Building is well maintained but old as all came out around last 70s to mid 80s.
- No drainage in bathroom so if the pipe broke, you will severely flood your apartment. No modification is allowed by the management.
- Labelled as "Middle Class" (If you care) though the price range here rivals some of those in a well regard placed like Happy Valley. Has to do with when it first came to the market, IMHO.

Thanks everyone for the input, to answer ppoutdoor's question, the smallest unit is 675ft and goes for roughly 325 million. Bob, do you think it has a good rental market as well?

I think Taikoo Shing will always in demand for rental units, considering my experience of staying here for more than 5 years.
Also, the smallest unit is not 675 sq ft but 620+ sq ft, as far as I remember.

It is considered to be a middle class area but the prices are quite steep especially the bigger apartments with sea view which cost about $10m.
