Travelling with cash

Hi, we are heading to Greece for a few weeks and usually we just rely on credit card to get accom, meals etc but as we are heading to the islands and will be taking ferries etc we will need cash to do this, whats the best way to go about it? Are travellers chqs still easy to use or is there a new way to have easy and safe access to $$? Not too keen to carry a good chunk of cash around. Thanks!!

Either use your ATM card - if it has the cirrus or plus symbol on the back you will be able to use it most places but there is a fee for every withdrawl so don't use it like an atm card -just withdraw cash once each place. Or put money on your credit card so you are spending your own money not VISA's and use it the same way.

Don't forget Greek ferries are no longer jump on / jump off - they now require pre-purchased tickets.

You can still try walk-on on some runs - then pay the purser.

Great, thanks for the suggestions, I think I will just go with the ATM option, seems a lot easier!
