I went to the beauty supply place on Lyndhurst at the steps in Central (cannot remember the name) and I bought Wella's Wellastraight for only $60.00 it is a product used in many salons here.
I have not done my hair yet - have any of you done it yourself at home?
I'm not worried, just want some feedback.
Prefer to hear from non pro's unless you want to give advice for home use and not sell your salons.

Wellastraight is not a home use product and not many salons use it any more. It is an old style straightening method. One of the reasons for this is the very high PH level of 14 whcih is very damaging on the hair. It is one of the strongest chemicals you can put on your hair and is not designed to be used on hair that has any other chemical treatments so be very carefull.

Any people who use this at home and NOT a prop?
I just googled all types of hair straighteners and this one is made with the least damaging chemicals - I will find the article and post here.
I am willing to give it a try too. The lady who owns the beauty supply place you mention is very good at advice.
I'm sick of paying $1000.00 to have mine done.

I used it once many years ago, before chemical straightning was really popular. It did not straighten my natural waves at all, just dried my hair out to frizz.
I think you can probably put this product in the same category as 'Sun-In', - remember the home spray-in highlights! You seem to be changing identities BMN/T2!

I was comparing this product to Sun-in, in the sense that they are both cheap and claim to deliver good results .....but they are both very harsh and bring disaster! Would never use either again.

For $60.00 HK dollars I will do a strip test as the shop manager suggested and see how it goes. If I am unhappy, I shall toss the leftover and still have money leftover.

Being the cautious type, I just did my fringe this afternoon...........worked great. There are 2 options, the flat iron or just combing thru and since I did not want teenybopper straight I just combed it in and sat straight for 8 minutes so it would not kink.
Love it.
Will do the whole head over the weekend.

Well, it's my second day and my fringe is still not curling up so it looks like this stuff works. I will wash my hair tomorrow and see if it still stays straight.
I certainly hope so.
