Hi, the skin pigmentation above my upper lip has darkened and i think it's called Melasma caused by taking the pill. It has become very embarrasing for me as it looks like I have a moustache! Please, can anyone help me with advice for this problem? Are there any skin lightening products I can buy in HK that would help? Thanks

I'm not sure if the skin whitening products available here will help, but I guess it can't hurt to try one. But have you been outside more and been more conscious of it these past few hot and sunny weeks? Reason I ask is I very recently read an article in a UK magazine that mentioned it; in the case of this particular woman in the article it was caused by - or certainly exacerbated by - the sun. The recommendation was to slap a minimum of factor 30 sunblock on her upper lip at all times, even in the UK winter, to avoid it getting darker. They also recommended for long term repair of the skin on her entire face, including upper lip, an own-brand daily serum that is selling really well in the UK right now at Boots the Chemist. (It's been given the thumbs-up by independent research as it's supposed to be effective in repairing all types of skin damage and doesn't cost the earth.)

I saw a dermatologist and he prepared a cream to apply at night (only costs $40). It takes time to see results, if any, as it all depends on the individual. As Thames said, you must stay out of the sun and wear a sun block as melasmma is aggravated by sun.

i have the diease and it will never go away as it is irrpairable damage to the deep layer of skin. wear a high factor every day during winter as well as summer, Light rays can even bounce off your computer screen. wear Hats at all times in the sun.
You can go to a dermo and get a cream that will reduce it slightly but once you get into the sun it will come back with a vengence. And you can only uise the cream for three months at a time Like me you may just have to live with it ! IPL Will damage your skin further and I was strobgly recommended by my Dermo not to use it
Good luck
