I was bored out of my mind in Hua Hin. I went to Chiva Som and we stayed there but got so bored we tried a few places for drinks like the Marriott. Not a soul around, no air con and just boring to me.

That was 3 years ago so maybe it's better now.

Hua Hin is a bit boring but there's a night market where you can try lots of different foods. It's also nice to rent a bike and ride through the quiet neighborhoods. Stayed at the Evason which was really nice with good food. They offered cooking classes and yoga which weren't outrageously priced like some resorts.

We are going in August for a week. First time also. Hope it's not as boring as what is said here. I posted the question on the Travel forum, and got some suggestions on what to do. We rented a holiday apartment, so hopefully it's better than a hotel room.

We usually go in a group of 6-8 people, but will split up in hotel of own choice, but for recreation, we meet up. Our stay is usually 3 days and then back to Bangkok.

It's a place to relax/laze around on the beach, snorkling/diving, golf. A day excursion for elephant rides & waterfall.

A couple of hrs at the nearby outlet mall will be enough.

Where can we go diving? I heard it is a couple of hours by car / boat away? Any recommended operators?

We were there last week. I really like it, very relaxed and laid back. We stayed at the Worra Bura. a new, very nice small hotel with a lovely pool, just down from the Hyatt. Its not a huge hive of activity but pleasant. Hundreds of eating places, a couple of night markets, lots of places to get massages etc. Great place for golf which my boys are just getting into, they played 2 rounds each. Its something they don't get much of a chance at here. My daughter had a couple of rides on a horse, we went on the elephants, jet skiing. Hired a ute one day and drove round the country parks and went to the waterfall, and in some caves.
