I've been offered a job out in HK, which pays HK$468,000 a year, plus health insurance, relocation costs, a HK$6000 "settling in" allowance and matching employer contributions to the MPF. Is this a good deal? Also, how much of my monthly paycheck will get taken up by things like taxes?

I'll be on my own out there. No kids. I'm a journalist, so I'm used to having to get by cheaply. With the salary on offer, would I be to go out most weekends, afford satellite TV, etc. What is the cost of living out in HK?

you need that salary plus a housing allowance. Remember you'll need 3 months rent upfront to pay. HKD20k pm is where you should start.
