Hi moms and dads,
Just wondering which bakery would be Yummiest, and would make the nicest looking Princess (Ariel) b-day cake...
How much is reasonable? I called Sweet Secrets, (quoted me $ 3000 for 40 people cake), and Complete delite quoted $ 1450.00 for 30 people Dream castle one. I still need to provide the princess dolls on top.
My family is used to buying cakes from Maxims', Cova, Domi.... max. we spent was $ 300.00 ...
Want to know what's the reasonable standard price for 3-D cakes like this?
Thanks.

Sweet Secrets' cakes are super yummy, especially the chocolate cakes. Complete Deelite's cakes are not as yummy. I ordered several 3-D cakes from Sweet Secrets before and never was I disappointed. They are expensive but worth it. The last 3-D princess cake that I ordered from Sweet Secrets cost 2K and we had about 30 kids plus 20 adults.

Or you could buy a few Sara Lee pound cakes, put them together to make a rectangle, cover them in pink butter icing (very simple, twice the quantity of icing sugar to butter, a tiny dash of milk and pink food colouring), laminate a picture of Ariel or another princess, place in the middle of the cake, and cover the rest of the iced cake in sweets. Makes it look like an effective sweet surrounded photo frame. Ver simple, would take about 20 mins to do, and cost no more than $150. I've done it using a picture of the birthday child but you can do the picture to suit the theme.

Try "The Supreme" along Prince Edward Road opposite to Fa Yuen St. My daughter recently had an "Ariel" birthday cake.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
CD- sounds good, will try it out, I don't want her to be disappointed.. (mommy here is no expert in cake decorating!)
2littlemonsteres, was the Ariel cake 3-d or the 2-d? And did the Ariel look like the authentic Disney little mermaid? (some look terrible!)
How much was the cake?
Thanks.

I've sent you a picture of my daughter's birthday cake via your pm.
It costs $170 per LB for a 2D cake and $190 for 3D. They also do some nice 3D Disney princess cake in which you have to provide a doll and the cake is formed into a skirt.

To Katetam, believe me she won't be disappointed, in fact she will get a great thrill from helping you put the sweets on (I did this cake for my daughters 3rd birthday with a picture of her on). I'm not very good at cakes, but i've always had a go at doing my own, the kids have always loved it, especially if they have a ahand in making it.
