the equipment tends to look a bit outdated. also i think the atmosphere tends to be for the snobby tai tais hence for the expensive price.
the only good thing about is that it is a ladies only gym.

I'm a member at Philip Wain and have found it to be much better than California which I was at for two years. It has all the equipment you need for a full workout - may not be fancy but they work all muscle groups, and provide different types of cardiovascular training. It is clean, quiet, and the staff are friendly and open to suggestions. The best part is that it's ladies only (the main reason I joined) so you can excercise without being harrassed or googled at. There are also steam and sauna rooms, and many classes to take free of charge.
