Can anyone tell me if there is a legal way to have a live out helper? We need to employ 3 helpers (LOTS OF KIDS) and can't have all three living in. What do other people do in this situation? Thanks

It's legal to hire locals with either PR or dependency visa to help. This will cost more and will be harder to find someone who speaks English. But why have so many kids you are unable to take care of yourselves - maybe you need to hire someone who can advise on contraception!!

you can try posting your requirements on the govt. labour website for local helpers. it looks like the cost ph is ~ $40-$60. good luck!

Sorry, I was thinking specifically of foreign domestic helpers. It might be legal to have a full-time live-out helper if she's a HK resident.

The laws allow you to rent a room/space for your helper to store his/her stuff. So in theory, your helper is live-in but he/she can store (and possibily stay the night(s)) in the rented room/space. This is what our agent suggested we do.

I do NOT suggest using agencies.... the reason we have Eveyln in our office is because we were sick and tired of hearing the horror stories that the helpers told of the agencies... We undercut their prices and our level of service is completely above board - both with the helpers and employers.
A common practice is to wait till the helpers have only a few days remaining before they have to leave then ask for more money to introduce employers...
In any event most of the agencies are just coming to our main helpers channel anyway to find candidates which you can do yourself (we have between 600 - 1000 new helper ads each month) so another reason to cut out these unscrupulous slave trading middlemen.

The agent's no that I have provided above is really good. She has helped with two applications and the helpers have not complained about her fees or the agency. She was also able to supply me with about 5 applications/CVs of helpers bother times that fit our requirements.

On your domestic helper site there's a section where you can select the "martial status" of the helper you're looking for. You might like to get this corrected!

hi ,
all u need to show a financial proof that u can afford 3 helpers as it is 15,000$ cut off for one helper and usually they grant the live out arrangement houses in hkg are not so big and for privacy reasons.srilankans are nice, well grounded , humble and can speak english.but of course ull have to pay for all 3 live out rents too along with the salary and food.
