We are planning a trip to the UK for 2-3weeks when baby is about 9 weeks old in end August and she is now on Gina Ford rountine. How to help her to cope with the time difference when in the UK?
and how to help her to go back to the regular routine when back in HK?
Many thanks

every baby copes differently in a new timezone, gina ford or not. it also depends on your flight out to UK (day or night) and how well your baby sleeps on the plane.
i would say that based on personal experience, you should get your baby adapted to the new timezone asap. by all means let the baby nap during the first day when she wants to do as i think she'll be out of sorts, then put her to sleep at the regular time (7pm UK time)...it'll take a few days to settle and be prepared for uncertainties e.g my son woke up at screaming at 5.30am every morning for 2.5 weeks.
as for returning, what i did was 1st evening i came home, he was obviously on UK time and didn't crash out until 4am in the morning! so we slept until 9am, i woke him up and we tried to get back into the routine, that following night i put him down at 9pm, wake him up at 8am the next morning..basically i tried to move back to our routine one hour per day. it took almost 2 weeks for everything to go back to normal.
for your case, i honestly wouldn't worry too much because your baby will only be 9 weeks when she travels - even if you are trying to establish the routine, it's unlikely (unless you are so very lucky) that she will be 100% into the routine by that time.
most important thing is enjoy your trip which i guess is for baby to meet everyone. routines are important but there are exceptions at time and you just have to be adaptable.
good luck!

tks alot for the tips. We are flying at mid night. Hopefully she will sleep all the way on the plane and cope well in the UK.
We will try your "moving back one hour per day" method when we get back to HK.
