wondering if anyone has recommendations for short asian getaways that will appeal to all above.

we will need at least 2 bedrooms (preferably a villa or suite), 1 room for 2 adults/1kid/1baby and 1 room for 1 adult and 2 kids.

this trip is planned for easter 2008. my bro-in-law and his twins will be visiting us. we need a pretty safe, child-friendly destination that doesn't require a c*cktail of vaccinations as my bro-in-law has only managed to successfully persuade his ex-wife to take the kids on this trip so he wants the trip to go without a hitch.

i know easter is a long way to go still but i need to make some recommendations for them soon!

cheers

Malaysia has an amazing aray of activities and places you can go. You could choose a 3(+) day jungle camp in which you can see large crocodiles, orangutangs, a variety of species of monkeys and much, much more in the wild! Or if that sounds a little too adventurous there is Tioman Island with its beautiful beaches, jungles and mountains. It has accomodation ranging from budget beachfront bungalows to resorts. To get there, hop across the border to Johor Bahru, head to Mersing (about a 2 hr drive, there are very cheap coaches you can take and most people are happy to help you find one) and catch the ferry to Tioman Palau (1.5 to 2 hrs).

Went with 2 kids (5 and 3 yrs) and 2 adults to Rasa Ria Kota Kinabalu (Shangri-la), 2007 Easter. Good kid facilities (kids club) but also nice spa/golf course.

Nice pool and beach clean with no big surf. Resort has small Orangutan sanctuary which you can take a short walk to and see the young orangs being fed and rehabilitated. Also jungle walks.

Resort was full at Easter but not too crazy. Lots of other families with children.

we had interconnecting rooms which worked well but some family suites also available.

Service very friendly but a little slow at times.

We stayed in the resort the whole time mostly by the pool and on the beach, but day trips were available - more suited to older kids.

We had fun and would go back for a relaxing holiday.
