I used a great invention from Europe called Liquid Nails............it's about $20 and you can glue almost anything to anything. I glued a 12 kg mirror to a wall with no problem. Took it off the wall after 2 years using a putty knife along the edges to loosen it.
You can buy it in most of the tiny lumber/handyman shops all over Hong Kong.

Tidings2,
When you removed the mirror, did it leave any stain on the wall? What about the frame of the mirror, any undesirable marks left?
Do they work on ceramic against tiles?

No damage but yes, some beaded glue that I just sanded off and painted over. Really, this stuff is amazing. It's dries a dark honey colour but it's easy to remove. You won't tear up the walls.

If you love your picture, I would invest in a masonry drill and wall plugs. They are cheap enough to pick up, especially at B&Q in Megabox. Not worth it if it comes crashing down, especially in this humid environment.

I have had shelves fall off the wall that had my heavy art glass after hiring an expert. It is hit or miss in HK for sure.

simon, a masonary drill, some long screws and some of those plastic plugs you insert into the wall first. Drill as deep as you can (be careful of electrical wiring). All can be bought in Sham shui Po market street. They sell them in packs - ready to go!! I've hung some heavy paintings this way, apart from the tough drilling it all worked nicely and they are still!! Glue? Interesting idea....

It was the best thing I ever did - learning about liquid nails. I glued all my mirrors to the walls, all sorts of things.
I had bought power drills and had pro's in and the holes were just a pain in the neck.
It costs 20.00 what do you have to lose by testing something somewhere in the house?

Re moving the pics or whatever around - you have abt a minute before it hardens to straighten it. Then it takes 24 hours to totally bond but nothing I ever glued ever moved within the first 2 mins - it set very quickly.
I guess if it didn't work they wouldn't sell it?
