preparing water for formula routine

my baby takes a bottle of formula during the afternoon at 1pm, 4pm and 7pm. (breast fed in the morning and night). if i boil the water in the morning and fill each sterilised bottle with the boiled water and let it cool and remain at room temperature until each feed is needed, is everything considered still sterilised for when baby needs the feed?

i know they say you can refrigerate for up to 24 hours. but what about keeping at room temperature and using it within the day?

I've been doing this for weeks already since I started giving my LO formula but not preprepared where formula is also in there. I will also check or smell the water first before adding in the formiula. Whenever i have the time, i will not do this method but always get fresh boiled water to prepare.

As for me, I find it fine to get the water ready for the 3 feeds early.

Hi...i used to boil water in the morning and keep it in the thermo during the day....and u can boil again in the eve if need be...this way u have warm boiled water available thruout the day.....and if u need to go out just pick up the thermo and bottles with formula added and go...make the milk as and when required....worked for me very well..

I do exactly what you do - fill the sterilized bottles with boiled water and leave at room temperture for the rest of the day or when we go out, etc. So far our MilkMonster has been ok, he's 7mths now.

I use boiled water from the previous day for the first feeding of the day. Then I boil the kettle and fill a jug for use during the day. I also did one of the big no-no's. I heated the bottle + water in the microwave and then added powder. Just always shake the bottle very well and test before serving. No problems so far- baby is 7 months old and has never been sick or burnt. However, I've been feeding baby room temperature formula since she was 6 months old- got stuck at the airport once and had to use refrigerated distilled water- she still drank the formula cold, so that was our turning point- no more heated bottles for us.

My baby is 10 months old and I always boil water and let it cool overnight, then we use the water for feeds the next day. I sterilize her bottles and keep them in the fridge. When I need to make a bottle I normally fill it 2/3 with the room temp. boiled water then add the formula, mixed well, then top up the remaining 1/3 with hot water, then the milk is nice at a slightly warm temperature (this is how my baby likes it).
