My baby is 6.5months old. He has started on solids 2 weeks ago. I am planning to feed him fish next month. Would appreciate if anyone could advise me on the type of fish to buy? And where?
Thanks

Oily fish contains good source of omega-3 fatty acids which are good for brain and sight development. Vitamin D found in deep see marine oily fish is also essential for bone growth. However, shark, swordfish, tilefish, fresh tuna, marlin, and king mackerel have higher content of mercury. It's better to reduce the intake of these by kids and women at childbearing age.
Increase the variety of fish can reduce the risk of high mercury intake.

I started off with vietnam sole or river cobbler (white fish), just to see how baby would react. I figured it is the mildest of fish out there (at least the ones I am familiar with- not sure about local fish). My 7 month old is now eating salmon as the white fish went ok. Agree with comments above regarding fish oil- my baby also takes fish oil supplements provided by my doctor. I bought both fish at my local Wellcome.

I never try salmon b4, just wondering if salmon is good for toddler and kids and what nutrients does it have?
Thanks,

salmon is good I understand but try to go for th wild one - as farmed one has those little colour pallets fed to it to make the flesh orange - not so good for a lo. Cod is good I think as well (tho endangered fish just about by now...)
