Hello,
I would like to look for a private tutor who can teach both Mandarin and Piano (with good qualification in both areas). I wonder if this is possible at all. If you know of anyone, please do let me know. Many thanks.

I am surprised at how active this thread is. I am curious to know what the reason would be to find mandarin Speaking piano teacher.
How does one learn piano in Mandarin but expect to learn the terms, and knowledge that are all in Italian, french, and the letter names of the pitch, notes, and rhythm... and eventually take the grade exams where the examiners all speak in English.
Of course, they have translated editions of all the music in HK, and they provide interpreters in the exams, but it's for those who have no choice because they lack the English skills. I can understand this need in China, or other countries who speak Mandarin. But obviously the parents here are expats, speak English... so what's the advantage of learning piano in Mandarin? Eventually, if the child is to learn and achieve what they learned at the levels where it's accepted internationally, and be able to communicate... how does one make the switch?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Katetam - cost may be an issue? I know I would rather pay for one teacher than 2 ; ) I want my child to learn Mandarin also, and maybe an instrument, but I would have to agree with you ultimately, I don't want them to be dual learning processes with one teacher. Kids ARE better learners than we are though........

Learning Mandarin through Piano lessons isn't the best way to learn that language though right? Surely if your child has other activities or lessons, finding a Mandarin speaking teacher would be easier than with piano. Mandarin and Piano just really doesn't mix together in Hong Kong, especially with the available examination boards. Unless one is preparing for the Shanghai Conservatory Music exams.... yes, that would help.
