hi mummies,

i just back fr my 15mth old check up and realise that her weight and height have been stagnant for the past 3-4mths. My 1st dd used to have slow weight gain as well, but at least her height is growing. My ped say cld be due to her activeness, plus she had a case of stomach flu 2wks ago. But i thought she should grow abit in term of height, if there is no weight gain.

Anyone had similiar experience and can share what you do to help? My 15mth old is not a big eater, she eat 2meals of porridge(1/2 bowl) and 3 feeds of milk (6oz).

Thanks for your input.

Sounds like she needs more protein, vegetables and fruit. Especially the protein...meats, eggs, tofu etc. Hope you can encourage your daughter to eat more.

I have a 20 month-old son who weighs just 9kgs. Don't beat yourself up about it, kids all grow at different rates. We have been to specialists and had many tests run, he's very healthy just little. He also hasn't grown much, if any, in quite a long time. He still wears the same clothes he wore last summer. It also has soemthing to do with the genetics, my niece also did not grow any her second year.

The specialists told me the worst thing you can do is to try to force them to eat, it just backfires and creats more problems. Just offer heatly foods and try to add a few calories in. Spread cheese or avacado on crackers or bread, things like that. It's ok to let them "play" with food at the table too, it creats a good relationship with food as they are learning about tastes and textures. Drinking a lot of milk is very good for her and she gets a lot of calories from that too.
